Technology Explained

Our Business Leased Line Standard packages use an enhanced version of an ADSL service.

ADSL runs over an existing telephone network and is the most common form of broadband. The connections between the Exchange and your local Street Cabinet are copper, as are the connections between that Street Cabinet and your premises.

The existing telephone network, the PSTN network, is able to support internet connections because the technology between the connections controls the frequencies allowing for the transmission of phone calls and data over the same line.

Symmetric Bandwidth

The difference between a Broadband Package and Business Leased Line Standard is that bandwidth is assured and symmetric. Bandwidth is controlled in the exchange using Engineered Broadband Symmetric Assured service based on an ADSL2+ Annex M service. Simply put, it enables both upload and download rates to remain the same.
