Technology Explained
Our Business Leased Line Enhanced service utilises ethernet in the first mile (EFM) technology.

So called because the connection between the street cabinet and the premises is traditionally regarded by service providers as ‘The Last Mile’, or from the customers perspective ‘The First Mile’.
Enhancing Copper Lines
This technology enables the use of copper networks to create dedicated connections for businesses. By taking two or four copper wires directly from the exchange to the street cabinet, then to the premises, the connection is able to support ethernet protocols. The result is the installation of ethernet socket (RJ45), as opposed to a traditional phone socket, enabling a business to plug their local area network directly into the connection.
Dependable Connectivity
Bandwidth is controlled at the exchange to provide a stable and symmetrical connection, where both the upload and download rate are symmetrical. This stable platform enables businesses to plan and manage bandwidth dependant applications, such as Voice Over IP technology and online backup, without compromise.
